Songs the Oak Father taught me

An exhibition proposal

My lifelong fascination with the intricate interplay of myth and fantasy has been a driving force in my artistic journey. I've always been captivated by the power of storytelling, the ability to create worlds beyond our own. In a world saturated with mass-produced, corporate mythologies, I find solace and inspiration in crafting my own unique narratives.

The works in this collection are a testament to this enduring passion. From the ethereal landscapes of "Heart Songs from Summerland" to the fantastical dioramas of "Saudade Lunations for Theia," each piece invites the viewer to step into a realm of wonder and imagination.

I've always been drawn to the beauty of the natural world, and I often incorporate elements of nature into my work. Whether it's the organic forms of the dioramas or the serene landscapes depicted in the paintings, my art is a celebration of the natural world and its enduring power.

Saudade Lunations for Theia

Saudade Lunations for Theia is a groundbreaking collection of 13 moon-themed sculptures, each crafted from a vintage hardback book repurposed into a functional wall clock. The book's pages, transformed into a canvas, hold the clock mechanism, while their content inspires sculpted dioramas in natural forms adorning each clock.

But the magic unfolds through cutting-edge technology. Point your phone's camera and witness bespoke 3D moon renderings projected out from the clocks, accompanied by unique, low-tempo electronic music compositions, each exclusive to the piece. This limited edition collection of 13 lunar wonders will be available for purchase upon completion of the full set.

Heart Songs From Summerland

These paintings are crafted on watercolour paper that has been stained with tea. My vision is brought to life through the integration of AI engineering, which generates templates that serve as a foundation for the artwork. I then carefully adapt and refine these templates to enhance the coherence and logical flow of the architectural elements.

Within this collection, you will find an ever-expanding series of paintings depicting ethereal structures that seem to hover in a realm between reality and imagination. These floating buildings embody a place that exist within yearning for an idealized homeland that was never realized. Inspired by the concept of Summerland which predates notions of heaven and hell, these artworks are intended to go beyond individual pieces and evolve into a cohesive community. With each new addition, a tangible and interconnected world emerges, complete with its own lore and narratives.

The Sanctury

Crafted from an assemblage of serendipitously discovered elements, added to with model trees, bicycles, crackling flames, and colorful prayer flags, a unusual creation is formed. They are then immortalized through the art of photography, and cast into a realm beyond our temporal and spatial understanding. Its precise whereabouts remain unknown, shrouded in mystery, yet its profound impact endures.

My journey as an artist started in my teenage years, where I discovered my love for creating detailed dioramas and miniatures. As I continued to hone my skills in this craft, I found myself increasingly drawn to the raw beauty and texture of sculptural art. So I decided to further my education in this field by attending art college.

Despite my extensive training in sculpture, my post-university portfolio may surprise some as it doesn't contain a lot of traditional sculptural works. But my passion for exploring the tactile nature of art remains, and I continue to experiment with different materials and techniques, bringing an earthy quality to my pieces.
