Painting of an anarchist protester protecting a vintage photograph of incocent children playing.
At the onset of the Extinction Rebellion protests, aimed at addressing the British government's inaction towards climate change, I was serving as a senior design manager for a prominent financial institution. Meanwhile, my beloved was at the forefront of the protests, actively fighting for the cause. Yet, the people around me in my professional circles remained ignorant and apathetic towards the movement. The stark contrast between these two worlds left me deeply fractured and conflicted, ultimately leading me to depart from my corporate role.
