My Father became
      an astronaut too soon

A piece of driftwood,
From the sea where Father rests,
In the boot, homeward bound.
Outside Exeter, we're hit,
Musician on phone, crushed car.

But the wood stayed strong,
Saving the seat and my kids,
From the impact's force.
Father's spirit with us still,
A guardian in the chaos.
